Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

I've put my child on the online waitlist. Should I now call every couple days and leave angry messages when I don't get a call back?

Answer:

If your goal is to never get into the program then yes this is the exact approach to use! We don't have an office staff and our swim instructors are busy teaching swim lessons. As soon as a spot becomes available in the time frames that you gave, you will be notified! People who call/text/email repeatedly are seen as people that would be hard to work with in the program and their waitlist form will be deleted.

Question:

My child is crying about going to swim. Should I just cancel for the day and not make them go?

Answer:
Absolutely not! Swimming is a life saving skill that children NEED to learn regardless of if they want to or not! We do everything in our power to make swim lessons fun. But that's not always something we can do when your child is dead set on being mad about having to do something they perceive as hard or something that isn't their idea. Post Covid kids are not used to being told what to do or having to do anything that isn't their idea! They went 2-3 years stuck at home with parents in survival mode doing what they needed to do to survive! So now children are having to learn that they do in fact have to listen to grown-ups/teachers and that they may not always get what they want when they want it! Once they figure it out they are good to go and have a great time! Some kids just take longer than others!

Question:

It seems like some people have some really strong opinions on Seahorse Academy...why is that??

Answer:

Simply put. We are a business that operates on a pre-covid level during a post covid time. We don't bow down to entitled parents just to get a good review. We don't apologize for not giving refunds on a non-refundable deposit. We don't apologize for sticking to the policy forms that everyone signs before they start in the program. Yet people seem to think that we should when it doesn't fit their agenda! And we don't apologize for teaching kids how to swim even when a kiddo throws a tantrum about it! We are here to teach a life saving skill and that's all there is to it! People are FAST to write a bad review when they are angry, but the thousands of families who have children who can swim now are too busy enjoying their kids to sit down and write a good review!
